As you may know, I had been on a journey for seven months, through 19 countries around the world. I was backpacking, staying hostels, event and getting to know many of the locals in many villages and communities, learning so much about many different cultures. I was fortunate to spend some of my time volunteering in a school and clinic in Africa, at an Elephant sanctuary in Thailand along with many other adventures. I was 53 when I set out on this journey in October 2014.

image006The presentation is about the reasons why I took this journey, making difficult choices in life and taking risks in order to live your best life possible. It’s also about why I did it as a solo traveler, some of my favorite places and most impactful experiences and about what I learned along the way. I have lived in Belleville since I was 4 years old (now 54) and I love this community. I had worked at Scotiabank for 20+ years, owned a small retail boutique, worked at the Canadian Cancer Society and then at the BGH Foundation prior to leaving on my adventure. I’m currently the AGM at GoodLife Fitness. I have 4 adult children and 2 grandchildren who all supported me beautifully, emotionally before I left and during my time away.
